Petrophysics of fault rocks

The project aims to apply experimental techniques developed to measure the fluid flow properties of unconventional petroleum reservoirs to fault rocks. In particular, we will (i) assess the stress dependence of the permeability of fault rocks, (ii) assess the impact of brine chemistry on fault rock permeability, (iii) measure Hg- injection threshold pressure at reservoir stress conditions, and (iv) measure the relative permeability of fault rocks. The student will incorporate the new results into production simulation models to assess their impact.
