Research Council Funded Projects

Leeds York NERC Doctoral Training Partnership

The National Environmental Research Council (NERC) funds research to deliver the science needed to provide solutions to the global environmental challenges.

The Leeds York NERC Doctoral Training Partnership provides full funded PhD studentships (UK) or fee only awards (EU) across research activities within three broad themes: the science of the Earth’s Atmosphere, Geosphere and Biosphere.

These themes cut across the six academic departments involved, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of much of our research, which spans the breadth of the NERC remit.

Studentships are based at the University of Leeds or the University of York and are advertised on an annual basis. Subject areas include; geomechanics, geophysics, petrophysics, seismology sedimentology and structural geology.

For more information visit the Leeds York NERC DTP website.

EPSRC Funded Projects

EPSRC Doctoral Training Grants and CASE Studentships

Projects are advertised on our Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Maths and Physical Sciences websites.

We also have EPSRC funding allocated for CASE studentships. We are currently looking for industrial partners for CASE studentships based in the Faculty of Maths and Physical Sciences. If you would like to know more, please contact Dr Rachael Spraggs, Petroleum Leeds Executive Director.
